Recording Your Memories with FamilyLore
Last week we heard from Adam Phillips, an internationally acclaimed radio journalist who has interviewed hundreds of luminaries, politicians, religious leaders, authors, adventurers, inventors, and amazing everyday people. His business, FamilyLore, will record your life story and reminiscences, creating a compelling audio record of your family or company for posterity.
Ken Sewall Obituary
Last week we learned about the passing of long-time Club member Ken Sewall. His obituary (https://berkshireeagle-ma.newsmemory.com/?publink=2b1126a0a_134d120) appeared in the January 24, 2024 edition of the Berkshire Eagle.
Sparks Internal Review
Last week aspersions were cast against the Sparks editorial board for overlooking publication of a birthday notice for Eva Sereghy, who apparently celebrated an important birthday last week. Sparks management takes such accusations very seriously, mainly because only the best and brightest are invited into the cadre of Sparks editors and writers. That said, Sparks management empowered Internal Affairs Division to execute a comprehensive review to assure the highest quality control. The review revealed that Ms Sereghy's Member Profile is incomplete, there being no birthday or Club anniversary entry for her. Without sufficient information, Sparks writers may not be expected to supply birthday and anniversary entries. As a result, we are pleased to report that Sparks writers and editors have been cleared of any wrong-doing in this situation and gladly pass this aspersion along to the Club Secretary. Happy Birthday Eva.
February Feed My Sheep
The next date for Feed My Sheep is Monday February 12.   Six to ten volunteers are needed to assist with the activity.  We have access starting at 4:00 to start preparing. Help is needed for prep, which starts at 4:00.  Serving ends at 6:00, followed by clean up. If you have time and can help out please contact Nick Kirchner by email.  For those not familiar with with this periodic event, Feed My Sheep is a community meal program at the First Baptist Church in Pittsfield.  Rotary Club has been involved in the program for a number of years along with several other community organizations.  Each organization is part of a rotation that purchases, prepares, and serves a supper meal.  There are currently about 30 participants.  Meals are prepared and then served between 5:30 and 6:00.
2024 Auction Action Needed
You may think you have lots of time to get your items in, but you don't. Our 2024 auction is fast approaching. You have the list of items you submitted for last year’s auction.  Please commit to your items for this year, or let the the auction committee know that you cannot commit. The committee's goal this year is to have each Rotarian acquire 10 items.  Bring your items to Nick Kirchner at Molari Employment Services. It's time for us to start seriously building our inventory. As of last week's meeting only three items had been submitted.
Spring Fling Cash Lotto
The Club's Environmental Committee (who knew we had one?) is running a Spring Fling Cash Lotto, where all members are asked to sell ten $10.00 dollar tickets (feel free to ask for more!).  There are $2,500.00 in cash prizes, each ticket is eligible for the daily drawing in March.   Tickets and cash should be returned to Adrienne DeBlieux-Speed by the end of February. Funds raised will assist the Club in supporting activities that strengthen the conservation and protection of natural resources, advance ecological sustainability, and foster harmony between communities and the environment. By supporting this fund raiser, you are helping Rotary Club of Pittsfield work with our local community to plant pollinators and native gardens, access grants and other resources, and support environmental programs. A maximum of 1,000 cards will be sold. Drawings will be held each Wednesday in March, and winners will be notified.
